Rouges intensément colorés et teinturiers, à la robe rouge sombre quasi noire, à la pulpe rouge signature, aux tanins fermes et à la bouche dense, sur des arômes simples de fruits noirs (mûre, cassis), épices et notes balsamiques. Profil utilisé en coupage pour renforcer la couleur des rouges. Cultivé principalement aux États-Unis (Missouri, Pennsylvanie) et marginalement en France. Hybride noir teinturier français créé par Albert Seibel (Seibel 8357).

Pays viticole de référence mondiale du Riesling, ~103 000 ha en 13 régions le long du Rhin. Riesling roi (~23%) : blancs ciselés et minéraux aux notes signature d'agrumes, pêche blanche, pomme verte, fleurs blanches, miel et touche pétrolée d'âge, acidité crispante — du sec tendu (Trocken) aux liquoreux nobles (Auslese, Beerenauslese, Eiswein). Aussi Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) fin et soyeux, Müller-Thurgau souple, Silvaner ample, Dornfelder dense. Mosel, Pfalz, Rheingau en stars.
